Solar PV Designer/Engineer
Location: NYC/Remote
Compensation: $55,000 - $75,000
Type: Contract to Full-Time
Job Purpose
The Solar PV Designer/Engineer is responsible for review and signoff of plan designs in the Sologistics Salesforce environment. This person ensures that all Design & Engineering aspects of solar projects are in line with client requests, internal standards, and are not in violation of any AHJ regulations.
Responsibilities and Skills
Compare and confirm data entered into Sologistics’ Salesforce environment on delivery of services by Production Specialists including:
Quality assurance of output fields
Provide notes, guidance, and instruction on changes to plan designs
Cite codes, recommended practices, etc. to support QC operations
Advise team on alternate, more lucrative design possibilities
Expedite delivery to clients by making appropriate changes to plan sets
Be familiar with processes required for work within Flood Zones
Communicate directly with clients on the D&E aspects of a project as necessary
Review and adjust plans in accordance with client requests and internal policies
Research and keep up-to-date on the AHJ requirements as they pertain to D&E
Provide technical advice to the CEO on matters pertaining to D&E
Continuously monitor and report on project progress, approval, and finalization
Provide training to D&E subcontractors/third parties who provide D&E services
Provide quality control over subcontractors’ work through regular engagement on how to rectify mistakes or improve their output
Create prototypes/templates for clients according to their requirements and/or according to DOB-specific requirements, to be followed by the third party for all following plan sets
Address D&E related comments and concerns from DOB’s plan examiner to ensure smooth and timely approval of plans
Regularly review work processes for areas of improvement
Ad hoc tasks that may be assigned by the Operations Manager or CEO
Skills
Conversant and updated on building codes for relevant municipalities and NEC codes
Ability to rapidly and accurately review designs and catch errors
Strong work ethic and time management skills to successfully work with deadlines
Extremely detail-oriented
Ability to conduct independent research and willingness to learn new developments within the industry
Ability to collaborate with a team both in-person and remotely
Strong verbal communication skills with fluency in English
Ability to work under pressure within tight timelines for completion of projects
Qualifications and Experience
Education: A Bachelor's degree in Engineering is required
Certification: NABCEP certification is required
Experience and specialized knowledge:
At least two (2) years of experience in the field and designing solar plan sets for the NYC and NY state AHJS
Deep knowledge and experience with PV design software (including AutoCad) is required
